The Beatles

Abbey Road
This was one of the first two albums I bought with my own money to play on my first stereo (which has been preserved for posterity in Grandma's dining room.)  I biked to Humble Sounds record store on the corner of 50th and Bryant to get the Led Zeppelin album containing Stairway to Heaven. Abbey Road caught my eye as I passed the used bin. Notice which album made the list, then, if you don't already know what it means,  look up the word "serendipity."
The Beatles (the "White Album")
This is The Beatles at their most out-there experimental, throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks. Not all of it does ("Revolution 9"), but enough does to make listening pretty rewarding. A lot of it's pretty weird when you think about it, even stuff as catchy as "Back In The USSR," and certainly the likes of "Savoy Truffle," "Wild Honey Pie," "Happiness Is A Warm Gun," and "The Ballad of Bungalow Bill."
